The food was mediocre, surely fresh but lacked taste and spices. The herring tartare tasted like oak infused water. Good service and nice atmosphere with a tastefull deco.

We were there on the day of the Kitchen Revolutions broadcast. The restaurant was quite nice.
As for the dishes, we ordered pickled cucumber cream - a blended cucumber soup, and fish soup, which was one of the weaker ones.
For the second course, cod - there were two pieces on the plate - a smaller one, dried to a crisp, a larger one fresh, and a herring casserole - it's worth trying, but once is enough for me. Prices as per receipt. Dinner for two people costs about PLN 100, let everyone decide whether it's a lot or not.
In the program, the portion of the casserole was twice as large at PLN 19, now it is PLN 27, and the soup is served completely differently.
Definitely weak.

At the end of 2017, the Granola restaurant located in the center of Gdynia was renamed a place called "Śledź i Chleb". The reason for the change was the presence of Magda Gessler, who carried out kitchen revolutions at Granola.
The small place has a very cozy decor thanks to the combination of gray and turquoise bricks. Numerous fish motifs placed on the walls and tablecloths refer to the maritime character of the place.
The menu is very short and simple. It takes the form of an offer sheet with foil sleeves containing colorfully printed cards. The menu has a clear and logical division into individual groups of dishes and is pleasing to the eye. The menu is dominated by fish and the titular herring. The proposed starters (price: PLN 10-20) include smoked fish paste served with bread, a herring board and chopped herring tartare. Soups (price: PLN 12-15) include: pickled cucumber cream and fish broth. Fish main courses (price: PLN 15-36) include: herring in several versions served with additions, sous-vide salmon steak with herbs and Magda Gessler's herring casserole. Meat main courses (PLN 17-28) include: dumplings with black pudding and pork neck steak.
The service is fast and efficient. The employee noticed our presence quite quickly and came over with the card. After a while he came back to take the order. We waited about 20 minutes for the first dishes we ordered. While waiting for the first ordered dish, we could enjoy the appetizer.
While waiting for the ordered dishes, we received a snack in the form of excellent-tasting and well-seasoned egg paste with dark bread. After a while, an appetizer of herring appeared on the table in three versions: Kashubian, in oil and in cream. The fish meat was very firm and tasty. As additions to the herring, there was a dumpling stuffed with herring and a slice of bread with delicious smoked fish paste. The appetizer could easily be a main course due to the portion size.
The second appetizer is chopped herring fillet smoked in smoke. Kashubian mustard, onion and pickled cucumber were served as additions. The taste of the fish combined with the smoke and additives was delicious.
The first soup ordered is pickled cucumber cream made with veal stock, served with a slice of fresh bread. The slightly sour soup was tasty and refreshing. The second soup is an aromatic broth made from fish stock with pieces of juicy salmon and vegetables cooked al dente. The soup with a strong fish aroma and taste was excellent.
Magda Gessler's herring casserole is a classic potato casserole with pieces of herring added as an addition. A very filling and tasty dish.
The first main course is two medium-sized pieces of juicy cod fillet served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut salad. A piece of fresh fish was only slightly seasoned to taste. Combined with freshly prepared potatoes and fresh salad, it tasted great. The second dish is pieces of beef cheek served on mashed potatoes with horseradish and grated boiled beetroot. The meat served in its own juice was well seasoned, tender and juicy. The sharper-tasting puré and sweet beetroots perfectly balanced the taste of the meat. Dessert, including delicious apple pie served with a scoop of ice cream.
The visit to the Śledź i Chleb restaurant was very successful. The dishes were not overcomplicated, and because they were made from fresh products, they tasted very good. The cook has good taste, thanks to the check each dish turned out distinct and deliciously seasoned. We definitely recommend it!
Cost of a meal for two people (starter + soup + main course + dessert + drink): PLN 180

Clean and nice. The service was quite nice. The chard was good, but a bit too salty. The cod baked with smoked cheese was very good. Overall a plus.

We went to the restaurant at the suggestion of my wife because she likes to eat in restaurants where Mrs. Magda has a hand. We ordered smoked sour rye soup (my wife said it was a bit too salty, but the kids ate it with great taste). For the second course, my wife ordered golden (fried) herrings with mashed potatoes, they were tasty. We ordered chicken nuggets with fries for my son and he ate them all, so I can say that they were ok😀. I ordered fish soup, I'm not a gourmet, but it was delicious, the soup was filling, large pieces of fish and strongly seasoned... just my type. For the second time, I ordered Ms. Magda's casserole, which was also tasty. As a meat hedgehog gourmet, I rate the food 4+. As for the price, it's standard for post-revolution kitchens... But for a set like this, if it was PLN 20 cheaper, it would be nice. A big plus is the friendly staff who entertained our children when there were no customers (except us)... we could eat in peace. Best regards.
